Welcome to my Laboratory

At least, that's what I used to call this site 12 years ago ;-). I like to think there are useful things in my brain that aren't widely distributed yet, and this is my place to do so. Heh, it would be nice if all those years of tinkering and the hours invested in my hobbies actually helps someone. :-)

The various sections of my site are listed to the left. Subsections are listed as you enter them. The section you're currently in is highlighted. Pretty self-explanatory really. Enjoy!

OK... apparently I fell asleep at the keyboard for about a year or so. Well, not completely comatose, some behind-the-scenes stuff has developed. In particular, say hello to! This Linux server running on a VM hosted somewhere in Ontario has a 20mbit/s upstream, 20 times more than (which is after all hosted on a residential connection). bigbox is gradually taking over all the bandwidth-heavy tasks, but the actual serving of webpages will continue to be handled by multiserve.

Due to the virtual demise of Google Video, I will soon be creating new streams of the 20 posted computer demos, and thanks to the speediness of bigbox I'm toying with the idea of streaming them in DVD-quality. Whatever ends up happening, they will look much better than they currently do on Google Video.

Currently doing much "behind-the-scenes" work on this website, all the back-end coding that will enable some really cool things in the near future...

I learned today that there are and have been only 3000 Chattaways in all of recorded history. I interpret this as proof that being a Chattaway makes you a 1-in-over-4-million kind of person. Whatever that means. ;-)

I've added 20 classic PC demos in streaming-video format to my PC Demos section.

And heh, what are the chances, a full moon occurring on this auspicious date...

Do you ever wake up terrified that you're about to be devoured by ravenous man-eating Pliocene clams?

A new section, Classic Computers / Music Modules, has been added - some of these are still quite nice to listen to even by today's standards (if you like electronica that is)

A new section, Classic Computers / PC Demos, has been added

Also, a milestone has been reached, this site has earned its first dollar! Thanks people!

A new section, Entertainment / Stranger than Fiction, has been added

I've finished updating/editing the Absinthe section - freshened up the text, added new info, removed irrelevant passages (it was waaaay too long), removed dead links & old / wrong info

I have just about finished fine-tuning the look & feel. I've started editing the older content where necessary, and have started adding new content. Watch this space...

  • 2008-03-22
Remodelling continues... plus I've noticed several edits of the older content are necessary. In AdSense news, 355 ad impressions, 0 click-throughs, so far... I have no idea if those numbers in this short time are normal? Heh...

Had a good Easter dinner with my family & my brother's family - the twins had their first easter-egg hunt! We ran into a few problems though, namely (a) they haven't quite grasped language yet, so it took a while to convey they were supposed to hunt for foil-wrapped eggs in the garden, and (b) I don't think they've ever unwrapped and eaten a chocolate egg before... but once they figured out there was tasty chocolate inside finding the rest of the eggs didn't take much time. :-)

Remodelling of begins! I finally think I know which direction(s) I want to take this place in. I'm experimenting with Google AdSense... see what happens. Site should be mostly complete by March, with monthly additions thereafter.

  • 2008-03-08 has been reincarnated in the body of a Pentium II, after the Pentium it was hosted on suffered catastrophic age-related hardware failure. I've taken the opportunity to vastly improve multiserve, things are ticking along so smoothly now it's scary.
